Procedure for Installing Septic Systems
  • The Procedure for installing a new Septic System: The first step is to complete engineering with test holes . Engineering determines the size, type and depth of a system. The process begins with you signing a engineering estimate and suppling a property survey. We then schedule the engineer ,the local health dept. and our backhoe to dig the testholes. During this time we also pass your property survey over to our surveyor to do a topographic survey . A topographic survey is now required by the state to be part of the engineer's plan for a new septic system. Once the testing and the topographic survey are completed the engineer can design the plans for a new or alteration to the septic system . Then the plans go to the local heath dept for approval. A verbal price can be given based on the plans but a written estimate is not given until the plans have been approved by the Health Dept. The time line for this process is approximately 6 to 8 weeks. The surveyor takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks to complete a topographic survey ( using your property survey as a base) The surveys are then past to the engineer who takes approximately 2 weeks to design the plans . The plans are then given to the local health dept. which can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to approve. The time line is always subject to the weather and how busy each party involved is . The health dept approval depends on each individual dept. and their requirements. If you accept our written estimate based on the approved plans-you sign it and return with a deposit .Then your job is added to our schedule .The average septic system takes 10 to 14 days to complete.
  • Real Estate Transaction - if this is for a sale of a home - once the written estimate is given the money can be held in escrow at the time of the closing by one of the attorneys. The only thing we require is a letter from the attorney holding the escrow. Details will be provided.
  • This is a very time consuming process - but it is what the state code requires . We do the best we can to keep you inform through the entire process.
