Good Management Practices for your Septic System:

Pump your septic tank every 2 to 3 years – Failure to pump out a septic tank when needed is the most common cause of a septic system failure. If accumulated solids are not removed from the septic tank when needed – solids can be carried into the disposal area and clog normal operations. This can lead to the need for costly repairs or replacement.
Don’t pour or flush harsh chemicals: No grease, cooking oil, paints, stains, solvents, or any other toxic chemical. Use cleaners in moderation.

Don’t use chemicals or enzymes to “clean” your septic system: They may effect the normal bacteria function of your system and may break up the solids in the septic tank -which can lead to the solids flowing into the disposal area clogging up the natural function and could cause premature failure.
